Forschungsprojekt: Mistel und Wirtsbäume, Epigenetik von Senecio vulgaris L. (Asteraceae), Ästhetik der Wirbel: Bildung und Umbildung des Perianths an der Blütenpflanzen und Petal Evolution in Sanguisorbeae (Rosaceae).

Verschiedene Projekte zur goetheanistischen Naturbetrachtung, beispielsweise Pflanzen-und Landschaftsbeobachtung. Besonderes Interesse für Phänomenologie, Wissenschaftsgeschichte,  Wissenschaftstheorie, Morphologie, Botanik, Ökologie und Evo-Devo. 

Joao Felipe G. Toni, geb. 1982, hat Biologie und Erziehungswissenschaften an der Sao Paulo Universität in Brasilien studiert und war 2010 Praktikant am The Nature Institute – Ghent, USA. Seit 2011 arbeitet er  als wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter an der Naturwissenschaftlichen Sektion am Goetheanum und macht ein Master of Science in Pflanzenökologie an der Universität Basel in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Royal Botanic Garden – Edinburgh, Schottland.
