Natural Science Section in Cooperation with the Medical Section at the Goetheanum

Modern humans are constantly developing new disease tendencies and predispositions in connection with his environment. This raises the need for new pharmaceutical developments. The Goethean method enables an extended, holistic understanding and an imaginative insight into a particular plant species and its gestural language, which is expressed in a variety of qualitative ways in its specific annual development.

This research project is designed to gain a deeper understanding of selected medicinal plants and to recognize them as models for certain disease processes. This can provide new inspiration for anthroposophical-pharmaceutical developments. In a collaboration between natural scientists, pharmacists and anthroposophical physicians, an attempt is made to move from the idea and phenomenology of a plant to the realization of a new preparation and its application in medical practice. The aim is also to cooperate with universities, other research institutions and companies. Specialized working groups, intensive exchanges and conferences are organized for this purpose and the research results will be published. Years of studies, experience and initial publications are available1-4. In addition to new developments, our aim is to gain a deeper understanding of the effects and basic substances of existing herbal preparations.
